Year 2 provides residents with the opportunity to rotate through a variety of specialties. The rotations include neonatology, perinatology, nephrology, cardiology, development pediatrics, and adolescent medicine. One month is spent in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Children's 20-bed intensive care unit treats critically ill children beyond the neonatal period. Second year residents spend two months rotating in Emergency Medicine. Children's Hospital of Michigan's emergency department is staffed by full-time pediatric board certified or eligible pediatricians and treats over 70,000 visits yearly making it one of the busiest emergency departments in the nation. During year two, residents have one month of elective and continue to follow patients during weekly continuity clinics and two months at the GPC. |
